    Electromagnetic flowmeters use Faraday's law of induction to detect flow.

    Inside the electromagnetic flowmeter there is an electromagnetic coil that generates a magnetic field, and electrodes that capture the electromotive force (voltage). It is because of this that electromagnetic flowmeters can measure flow when there seems to be nothing in the pipeline.
